To work or not to work...that is the question?

I must admit, going back to work; albeit for only 2 days a week has been a huge shock to the system. The first week I was soooo tired I crawled to bed on the Friday (actually I think "fell asleep on the carpet" was more to the point). The following week the exhaust fell off my car; a mad dash to get it fixed ended in me having to accept a lift off the my head (which was fine BUT...WHAT you gonna talk about!!!?? It was OK in the end). Week three saw me getting a bit "tipsy" on Wednesday evening; note to self; NEVER, never get "tipsy" or roaring drunk on a school night, you can't ring in sick when you only work two days and, so I found out, 25 hyper year 1's and hangover aren't the best combination.

So that's what I've been doing but it's all OK ; teaching is like riding a bike...it all comes flooding back; although, I have noticed that I address everyone as if they were a 6 year old at the moment...and that really won't do will it? Would you like me to tie those shoe laces for you?

Ah yes it's scary isn't it? Going back to work and then finding it's like you never left is also slightly depressing :( I shall follow your don't get drunk advice lol x

Mum Gone Mad thanks for stopping by! I'm lucky in that I'm starting back at a school that I used to do a lot of supply at and, now a friend of mine has been made deputy, I was recommended me for a post; only a term so far but disappointing to find the same old staffroom politics at play!
Amy, nights will be hard...although work provides some respite from my constantly messy home!! Yes hangovers and work!!! I was so silly but I just fancied a good old blow out!!

After retiring from the military, I told my husband there wasn't a job out there that could pay me enough to go back. No way! I enjoyed my visit to your blog!

Thank you MOMSWEB; can imagine work after retirement wouldn't be too appealing. I love teaching and have had a number of career breaks but (not being too ambitious) I'm wondering if I should take a longer break after this "stint". I'm only on a term's contract and, having had baby#3 (bit of a surprise addition but welcome nonetheless)...well, I had to work so hard when the other were babies; I was the main earner then! Then again, having a very long break would mean me dropping down the payscale...catch 22. Thanks for looking at my blog...appreciate that :)
